Fatty Monk is an original band based out of Austin, TX. They got their start from a few guys that wanted to do more than just their day jobs. The members of Fatty Monk have gone through many iterations with members involved in other bands such as Sixpence None The Richer, Velosheen, Ouiji, Bowl of Influence, and The Common Anomaly. The current members consist of Mark McNutt – the man that makes the guitar wail in ways that make you wanna slap your momma. Speakin of slappin, the bass player, Brant Dickerson, drops the boom on the lowers so low, they can feel the vibes resonate in Jamaica. Of course no bass player is complete without a solid drummer. This is where our man Erik Arhelger comes into play. He provides the hearbeat of the tunes… mostly in order for singer and rhythm player, Brandon Ercoline, to keep in synch. Come on out to see Fatty Monk, and you’ll likely feel it’s something so familiar sounding that you’ll sweat you’ve never heard it.

Brandon Ercoline

Brandon is a chubby soul… some say would call it fatty. He enjoys sitting quietly and standing loudly… one of his many mottos (which all tend to contradict one another at some point) is: “if you’re gonna be on your feet then make it count”. Music means a lot to him… so does humor. He’s the most self indulgent one in the band, and as such, has taken on the role of lead singer. He hopes you enjoy your life with or without Fatty Monk as part of it. If you happen to lose a few braincells while attending a Fatty Monk show, just ask him, and he very well may offer to help you find them… but beware, if he does locate them, he has a knack of losing them again along with his own.  He wants people to know, “In a world full of originals, I am a copycat.”

Brant Dickerson

Brant Dickerson grew up in San Antonio and first started playing bass when he was 12 years old. The real motivation behind practicing was of course, to get chicks. He would be the first to tell you that playing music is a huge part of his life. His first band was formed at age 13 and their purpose was to play at the San Antonio Rodeo. In middle school he played bass in the jazz band. In High School ladies were the focus. He soon picked up a guitar and started singing and playing in hopes of landing some female fans. 100% self taught, he also says it is a God given talent that he just roles with. Some of his fondest memories of playing are those that have just sort of happened. Dickerson enjoys sitting in with new bands and just jamming with them to find inspiration. Prior to joining Fatty Monk back in 2008, he played bass for Ouiji for 5 years. He also enjoys singing and most recently has gotten back in to writing after the crowd (and fiancé) pleaser The Gulf of Mexico has had such a big response. In his spare time Dickerson is planning a wedding with fiancé Jenny, rides dirt bikes, goes out to the lake, plays with one of his three dogs or dabbles in his day job of real estate. He currently resides in Austin, TX.

Erik Arhelger

erik

percussive by nature, doctor by calling

My son, Nicholas, will sometimes grab my guitar and start strumming on it…Sometimes he just stomps on it…he is two after all. I like to think he is at least somewhat musically inclined, for example he can scream…very loudly… Maybe he’s the next Robert Plant…or the devil… There’s no way to be sure.
My step-daughter, Brittney, wants to be Hannah Montana…She doesn’t scream as loud as the boy, but she does like to sing. I would like to think I had a hand in her vocal discoveries, but I think Walt had more to do with that…We were watching Rush (the band, not Limbaugh) the other day on TV…“they’re old” she said.  WTF…
Our baby-to-be likes to kick in it’s mom’s belly. It’s rather rhythmic at times…Maybe it will be like it’s father, an untrained drummer who just likes to keep a beat…Better yet like Buddy Rich…Maybe it will be a doctor instead…but who would want to do that?
My wife, Misty, likes country music….  ‘Nuff said.

Mark McNutt

Still awaiting his personal bio… much like the rest of the band, doesnt like to talk so much about himself… and hasn’t relented yet in this “hey, know us, love us, want us!” effort yet.
